Slow Stitch Kit - Vintage Fabrics Set - Gift Box - Viking

A vintage box packed with vintage fabrics, trims, buttons and threads.

This fantastic lidded box dates from the 1930's and was once full of woollen bathing costumes, (half dozen, black, 38) and part of the stock of a draper's shop. Now it has been repurposed and is filled with vintage sewing items and plenty of fabrics for making and creating.

This vintage sewing set is packed with items. There are 5 different fabric pieces here including some French floral cotton, 1960's bark cloth and some vintage Sanderson*. There are two co-ordinating Sylko threads on wooden spools and two sets of vintage buttons. Two pieces of vintage lace trim and a small woven ribbon complete the set.

The fabric pieces measure 80cm x 40cm, 25cm x 40cm, 55cm x 50cm, 30cm x 30cm and 48cm x 42cm.  

These vintage sewing sets make great gifts, and this one is ready to hand over to a sewing friend if you can bear to! Or keep it and use the fabrics and trims to make bags, cushion covers, patchwork and slow stitch projects like the one in the final picture. To be honest, the box alone is worthy of a place on any shelf.

Box measures 26.5cm x 18cm x 4cm. There are other sets to choose from in the shop.

* Please note that the Sanderson has some foxing in places and is best used for fussy cutting/patchwork/applique or making small items.
