1950's Sanderson Fairytale Fabric - Cinderella - Polished Cotton

This stunning Sanderson fairytale fabric is original and dates from the 1950's. It has a selvedge to both sides, is in excellent condition and is very hard to find.

The centrepiece of the fabric is an image of Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother plus the coach on the way to the ball. Surrounding this are various nursery rhymes, including The Cat and the Fiddle, Little Miss Muffet and others. They are all printed on to a pale blue cotton and linked together with a trailing leaf pattern. (Please note: This fabric is a lovely, baby-blue - there is no white in the background, that's my camera! The best colour reproduction is the picture showing the smaller panel).

This is a beautiful vintage cotton, the illustrations are detailed and charming and it would make a lovely centrepiece for a quilt, a cushion or bag, or even a small dress or skirt. It is reclaimed, but in good, strong condition with no fading. The weave is tight and crisp and it has that feel of polished cotton. The characters are between 15cm and 20cm in height.

There are large pieces available, each measures 170cm long x 70cm wide, or three smaller panels measuring 70cm wide x 50cm long. These have a complete Cinderella scene and some surrounding images - see photo. 

This is an old fabric and has been used before. There are fold and stitch lines to each side - nothing too intrusive. At the bottom there is an unpicked hem with a faint stitch line at 152cm and a stronger fold line about 6cm from the bottom. One piece has a small red mark in the hem area - see the last photo.
