Vintage Classroom Poster - Number 6 & 8 - Spring Bulbs
These vintage classroom posters date from the 1950's and are from a series created by Macmillan and illustrated by John L Baker. They were designed as talking points for primary and early secondary schools and conjure up the early mid-century life with bright colours and good detail.
There are two posters included in this listing, Number 6 Planting Bulbs and Number 8 Bulbs in flower. Both show a nuture studies class, the first has the children planting a selection of bulbs and the second shows them admiring their subsequent blooms. They all seem particularly impressed with the Tulips!
These original posters have crisp, clear colours. They are printed on thinner paper than the other series I have for sale - I wonder if it's because they were produced not long after the end of the war. Most have been trimmed around their white borders but there is still enough to create a frame. The edges have marks but the central images are all in good condition. They have been stored flat which has protected the image and means minimal creases.
They look fantastic framed up and on display in both children's and adult rooms. There are a number of prints from this series available in the shop, which look good displayed together.
Overall size is 49cm x 40cm. Image size 48.5cm x 38cm.
