This original French cotton is a heavy weight upholstery fabric with a grey background and big, bright flowers.
The background is a slightly abstract grey and black and the bunches of flowers are overprinted in bright red and yellow with green and white highlights. Although this fabric dates from the 1960's/1970's it has a very modern feel to it.
It's a strong, textured cotton and a perfect weight for covering a stool or small chair. (I have some covering a footstool and it looks great.) Also hard wearing and robust for a bag or purse. Each bouquet is about 44cm high so this is a good statement piece print. There are selvedges to both sides - one is neatly hemmed. It's marked Francetiss - Aureoles - 145.
There is an old fold mark about 40cm from the bottom - see the last photo. I think you would need to cut on this line to give yourself two seperate pieces of fabric - this would still give you plenty of this lovely print to work with.
This French cotton measures 140cm across x 150cm long.
