This fabulous vintage children's cotton shows the Wombles of Wimbledon Common. This is original Wombles fabric from the 1970's series and shows Elisabeth Beresford's Wombles - Uncle Bulgaria, Orinoco, Madame Cholet, they are all here!
This is an open weave fabric, 100% cotton with bright colours and a white background, this 1970's Wombling fabric is in excellent condition. The fabric is strong, colours are even and there is no fade. Because of the open weave, this fabric has a tendancy to fray when cut - hem all the edges! It's reclaimed so there are no selvedges, but I think it's unused. The Wombles measure about 20cm in height and the vertical repeat is 58cm. It looks like a Wardle print but I can't find any reference to it so I'm not sure.
This original Wombles cotton measures a fabulous 160cm across, and is sold by the half metre. If you order more than one unit then it will come as a continuous piece to a maximum length of 1.5 metres.
