This vintage, French classroom poster is published by Rossignol and is double sided. One side shows a panorama of a zoo in the early 1960's and the other has a view of an athletics meeting between France and England.
The zoo print has a fabulous wide shot of an urban zoo with Elephants, Lions, Polar Bears, Seals and Baboons. These animals are all shown in their enclosures whilst visitors look on. Everyone is very smartly dressed; with hats being the order of the day for men and women! The other side of this has a scene in an athletics stadium. England and France are competing in various events - on the track and in the field - with England appearing to be in the lead. Again there are plenty of hats on the heads of the spectators as they cheer on the runners.
The Rossignol posters were printed on a heavy, off-white paper and have softer colours and a mass of detail that shows French life of the time. All the posters listed are originals and served their time in classrooms. Some have the teacher's name pencilled in the border. They date from the 1940's to the 1960's.
This original French poster is in excellent vintage condition. There are some pinholes to the corners and nibbles to the edges. The main prints are clear with good colours.
These posters measure 76cm by 56cm and are printed on a good quality thick paper/card. There are several different designs available in the shop.
