This vintage French Classroom Print dates from the 1950's and is by Helene Poirie. It's a lithograph print with beautiful soft colours printed on a thick, off-white paper and is a unique print for the walls of a vintage inspired room.
The bottom corner has the signature of Helene Poirie, a French illustrator who worked from the mid 1940's to the early 1970's on a variety of books and educational materials.
This poster is number 102 from the Editions Bourrelier series "Images de la Vie" This one is called Le Bateau/The Boat and shows a harbour with two men setting out in a sailing boat, another in a small rowing boat and a lighthouse on the rocks.
The colours are excellent and the overall condition of this 50+ year old poster is also good. There is a small tear and a couple of small foxing marks at the top, and a bit of creasing on some of the edges. The tears/creases will disappear when framed; the marks will show but they are part of the print's history and don't detract from the image at all. All are shown on the photographs above.
I haven't had this print in stock for a couple of years now, I keep hunting it down because the image is beautiful and it would look fabulous in a coastal themed room or vintage home.
The poster measures 75cm x 55cm overall - the image is 72cm x 52cm.
These Helene Poirie prints are increasingly hard to find and are rare survivors of a bygone age. They look stunning framed and on a wall.
This original vintage poster is sent unframed, rolled in a strong cardboard tube.
