This original vintage cotton was produced in the 1960's in the Netherlands for their Road Safety Bureau. It features colourful panels that show children crossing roads safely and generally behaving sensibly in traffic. There is also a panel that shows them working in the classroom. The panels are divided with a traffic border of cars and trucks with more children at the intersetions.
This is unused, end of roll cotton and it's completely fabulous! The drawings and the colours are vivid and bright and the graphic style is striking and very much of the period. It reminds me of those vintage Galt puzzles. There are selvedges to both sides and the cotton is stamped with the Road Safety Bureau logo and advice to "take care".
Each panel measures 34cm across x 29cm deep excluding the border. There are six different panels in total. This vintage cotton is sold in pieces that measure 120cm across x 64 deep which gives you one of each of the six panels plus some borders.
This is completely unique. I've never seen anything like it before and I'm so pleased to have it. The panels are perfect sizes for bag making, for small cushions or to frame and put on the wall. Or you could use the complete piece as the centre for a quilt or throw. So many options!
If you order more than one unit it will come as a continuous piece.
