This vintage cotton is filled with scenes from Peter Rabbit. The illustrations are copied from the Beatrix Potter originals and are arranged in stripes through the fabric. This is a curtain weight cotton with blue and white stripes running down the length of the fabric. These are covered in a pattern of tiny Peter Rabbits in blue and white. It is marked with the F W Warne copyright.
The scenes from the book show Peter in the garden, Peter meeting Mr McGregor and Peter with Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail and Peter's mother cooking in the burrow. The colours and details in the pictures are beautiful and they are arranged in such a way that it would be easy to cut them out to use in a patchwork or quilting project. In fact all of the stripes could easily be cut in to squares if you wanted to do that. The stripes are each about 17cm across and the pictures are about 17cm high. The colours are slightly softer than the photographs suggest - more Beatrix Potter in style.
There is a selvedge to one side of the fabric and there are some faint fold and/or stitch marks to that side with a couple of snags in the cotton where the stitches have been unpicked. I found one small paint mark too which is right on the edge. See the photographs for details. Other than that, this cotton is in lovely condition.
Peter Rabbit cotton measures 90cm across and is sold in 80cm lengths. This will give you six complete pictures per length. If you order more than one unit it will come as a continuous piece to a maximum length of 160cm.
Please note that the images on the pieces are arranged in different orders so the repeats are slightly different - see the pictures. If you have a preference please drop me a note with your order.
