This is a rare vintage Asterix duvet cover with Asterix, Obelix and Dogmatix on board a ship. These old covers are really hard to find these days so this one made me very happy when it turned up!
The large image on the front of this duvet is taken from the 1977 Goscinny and Uderzo book The Great Crossing. Obelix is sulking and Asterix is on the look out for land. The French title of the story is at the top and there is a copyright mark at the bottom of the image. The reverse of the duvet is a paler version of the front cotton - there is no image on the back.
This is a French duvet cover and 100% cotton. It dates from 1995 and is a single size. It's open at the bottom with a long 'tail' of fabric that can be tucked under the mattress to keep the duvet in place. It measures approximately 140cm x 190cm plus the tail.
This is a vintage set, overall it's in good condition for its age. There is a small wear mark near Obelix's head and a couple of the corners are thin - see the photographs. The joy of this duvet is in it's rarity really and it has plenty of life left in it for another Asterix fan to snuggle underneath it!
