This poster is one of a series of educational posters used to teach Geography. The series follows geographical regions around the world, their populations and their climate links. This one is number 78 and relates to the Tundra.
Each poster shows a map of the area covered and a series of illustrations of the regions. This one shows scenes and people from within the Arctic Circle.
The illustrator is Colin N Dilly, a commercial artist and illustrator who worked between the wars. These vintage classroom posters probably date to the 1920's/30's. Yopu can discover more about the artist's life and his illustrations done whilst a prisoner of war on the BBC People's War website.
The drawings are wonderfully detailed with soft colours. The details and standard of illustration is high in these vintage posters and they are lovely pictures in their own right.
I have a wide variety of these square school posters so do have a look at the others if you like the style. They're educational as well as beautiful and look fabulous when framed and displayed together.
All of the school posters in this series are in good condition with just minor marks comensurate with age. They have been stored flat and will be sent rolled in a cardboard tube.
