Sold. I'm out looking for more but in the meantime head to the shop for more lovely things at www.handmadeandvintage.co.uk
This vintage fabric is a screenprint cotton with racing car scenes, it dates from the 1950's. It's an unused fabric with both selvedges intact and seems to show one complete repeat of the original pattern.
The vintage racing cars are shown going a round a track, like the old Brooklands one in the UK, with various officials and advertising boards included. The cars are accurately drawn and the sense of speed and daring comes across really well
There is no maker's mark - just the original retailer's sticker- so I can't place it exactly. I've never come across the pattern before, and fabrics with vintage car racing scenes are thin oin the ground so I think it's a rare find.
It's in perfect, unused condition and is being sold as one complete piece measuring 114cm across x 92cm long.
You could cut it and add the pictures to a quilt, keep it complete for a cushion, bag or throw or frame it up for a unique decoration.
