This French cotton shows Babar the Elephant as a father to a new baby. It's covered with sweet images of Babar and Celeste enjoying their new parenthood. The fabric is scattered with images and captions such as "my first bath", "my first book", etc and interspersed with pictures of new baby paraphanelia. It is marked with the L. de Brunhoff trademark on the fabric.
There are just two pieces of this fabric, each measuring 39cm x 45cm. It is reclaimed cotton in good condition, everything is clearly printed with bright colours and there is no wear, fading, marks or holes.
This Babar fabric would be perfect to make a gift for a new baby, a small bag or cushion would look lovely in this print. You could team it with the big Babar new baby panel as a bedspread or throw for a really unique baby's room.
Babar is a character created by Jean de Brunhoff in the 1930's and is an iconic figure in French children's stories. The books were first translated and brought to England in 1933.
