Sold. I'm out looking for more but in the meantime head to the shop for more lovely things at www.handmadeandvintage.co.uk
I found a pattern for these hat stands in an early seventies magazine. They called it a wig stand and it was sporting a very nifty bob but I think it looks equally good wearing a hat.
This model is made from 1950's fabric with a series of abstract vase and plate shapes in bright colours. The fabric is has a slightly textured look. Inside the head is stuffed with carded polyester (which is new and meets all the safety regulations), the bottom has a layer of wheatgerm which adds weight and gives it stability.
I've called it a hat stand but headbands, fascinators, even tiaras would look great.
I'm hoping for a row of them on top of my wardrobe by the end of the summer!
It stands about 28cm high and is 58cms around the widest point.
(please note the hat is for illustration only and is not included in the sale!)
