Vintage Patchwork Baby Quilt - Storybook Theme

Happily Ever After

This crazy patchwork quilt has been made with a mix of vintage and retro fabrics and embroidered linen. It's designed with a "storybook" theme and filled with a host of familiar characters and interesting pictures. The idea is that it can be used to tell stories either by an adult to a child or for a child to themselves.

 It measures approximately 70cm x 90cm so is fine as a pram or cot cover, plus it has a 100% recycled polyester filling so it's also useful as a baby floor quilt. It would also travel easily and be good in a car as an extra cosy layer. I hope that the characters and colours would help this become a treasured posession over the years - well beyond infancy.

The fabrics on the front of the quilt are a mix of cottons, linens and cotton blends. Most are original vintage fabrics. These are sewn to a calico backing and then backed with a new, red gingham. Sandwiched between these layers is a soft, polyester batting made from 100% recycled plastic bottles - in fact it took about 3, one litre bottles to make this quilt lining!
